Squashy update

I have just taken him to the vet. I though they were gonna put him down so I was crying all the way there.
When we got there the vet seemed optimistic about him. His eyes are very bright and he has not lost any wieght.
They checked his urine and he has worms and some other parasite so he has been given meds plus vitamin B to aid his digestion and hopefully get him eating again.
I have some medicine to give him at home so if anyone has any advice on how to give him these would be helpfull.
he is not out of the woods just yet so keep praying for him please.
I also have to get poop samples from the other guys and hand it in to see if they have it too.

I'm glad things are looking up! Yeah, if your other turtles are in the same enclosure they probably have to be dewormed as well. What form is the medicine in?

If it is a liquid then the simplist thing to do is to inject it into an earthworm or feeder fish and then have the turtle ingest the fish. With a map turtle a powder or solid pill will be harder to convince them to eat ... but there are ways.

It is in a syringe.
there is no way he will take it in food as he is not eating anything.
I tried to tempt him with prawns, fish, bloodworms, sweetcorn and pellets but he would not try anything.
I am gonna get poo samples tomorrow and take them vets and then they will tell me to go in with the rest

Yeah, if they are supposed to be given orally then you could probably wait until he has his mouth open to bite and then inject it little by little until he has swallowed it all. Just be sure to go slow and take your time.

Keep trying food. The vitamin B should help boost the appetite. Try things that move to entice him. Earthworms and crickets tend to work well.

Yes i will do it slowly it is just getting him to open his mouth...
He wont eat anything that big as crickets.
I am gonna give him some blood worms later as the blood smell might entice him and they are a bit wriggly when the water moves and they are his faves.

Thanx everyone for your concern
