Stuck in a rut...

Ive had Jabori since 1998...Thats 10 years.
Stumpy I've only had for about 3 but this is still hard,

I'm thinking about parting with them..It's not that I dont love them, because I do.But,I've had them the whole time my child-back was growing and years of bending and lifting the wrong way has pretty much screwed my back.I cannot bend down stright anymore and it pains me all the bleeding time.
I am feeling less and less capable of keeping up with all the water changing because my back keeps telling me to lay off and relax.Whenever I do a water change(I need to do one tomorrow) I'll spend double time using smaller buckets than I used to but will feel the muscle strain long into the coming week Im thinking it would be in their best interest now,to find someone who can commit to them full heartedly?? Can anyone help me out?? Oh yes, the doctor is BS since he keeps telling me to take OTC pills..."they dont work" translates into "oh doc, give me more pills" so I'm also tired of going to doctors...

Can you set the buckets on something that rolls so you dont have to carry them? When you have to dump them out, you could just scoop out water with a cup or somethign so you dont have to lift them.
Im sorry, and I hope you can keep your turtles! <3

Thanks...Umm,money is probbly needed to get a rolling cart but thats a very good idea!! I can certainly look into that.Fortunatly, that would be quite easy to cart water to the kitchen or to my sisters bathroom no problem......I like that...
Im gonna try to see a new doctor this week or next to see if he has any suggestions or anything for my back.I dont want to be spazzing on pills for the rest of my life.Im also supposed to have recieved by now a prescription drug card which is available to Newfies and it pays for a good part of prescriptions...Ill keep ya'll posted on that

You could also look into getting a Python that connects to the sink that way you won't even need buckets.

or moving the tank so you could suck it up right to the bathtub/shower.

I heard on another forum that a good way to keep your turtle tank cleaner longer is to feed them in a different tub or in the bath tub. Just put the tub in the bathtub with turtles in it and feed them. normally they don't poo too long after eating so if you let them sit there until they poo it keeps the tank water clean longer.

I have a python but it reaches as far as the doorway to the living roomSo its half ok to change the water since its only a few feet to the tank..

I do feed them in the bathtub which keeps the tank semi-clean longer.I keep them in the tub until they poo. Also, last night I had my friend down and he lifted all the buckets and poured them into the tank for me and then massaged my neck and backSo I feel fantabulous today!!

As long as I got him here to help I should be fine for the time being...

***Also, my multi-quote thing won't work,am I just doing it wrong??

Awwwww...is there any way a hose would work???

I can't see you NOT having turtles!
IF it comes to having to rehome them...you should do it through "Lucky Lizards" or the small animal rescue. They would make sure the turtles got a good home.

Hey Amanda, I though of an idea for the roling thing I was talking about!
If you could get ahold of a large board, go and buy some of those small wheels that they sell at hardware stores and screw them in to the bottom so you can puch it around with a bucket on top. Im not 100% sure how much that costs, but it should be under $30 for everything I think.

Hmmmm. Yeah, my head always thinks of the most convenient way of buying things.. Whaich is always boxed and tooo expensive..Getting a board from Home Hardware should be half cheap and wheels..I guess it would work until my handyman skills killed it entirely and flooded my house out with stinky turtle water!!

I clearly can't live without them.. Ive had them for so long.I would be haunted forever.I was going to make a doctors appointent with a new doc for this Thursday but they need me to work and I need to call for my prescription drug card again......I was supposed to have recieved it in OCTOBER!!! Like I said, as long as I have Henry to lift my buckets...

Thanks for the suggestions though,guys...I really don't want to have to get rid of them.I believe in once getting an animal you keep it instead of burdening someone else with your 'mistake'...Which is how I ended up with them in the flippin' first place!

Why dont you get the tube that is really long to drain and it has a revers on it so you can attach it to a faucet and re-fill. They have them cheap at Wal-Mart and there are some at either pets unlimited **they were using one to refil tanks there** or petcetera...that fish place may have some too.

Thanks.I checked out the links and the first one seems pretty easy to make,Im no handy-dandy-tim-the-tool-man-tayler now but it looked easy enough.Problem now is I might be moved out by then and should wait since I'll need to see the tap at a new place. The ones here I know are garbage and no garden hose connects because I tried it last year when I bought one with the attempt in my mind to use it to clean the tank.

Im just so frusterated, mostly at my stupid back for falling apart on me and I'm only 21.I also feel like there's arthritis or something crawling into the creases of my fingers and it seems like it brought it's bags to stay.I've seen crippled by arthritis hands,in fact I see them every day at work and it's disheartening to try to pass something like money to them and theyre hands are alll disfigured. Those people are old though,I'm only 21...... I'll get back to you all about final desicions and doctor's note and stuff.

You can buy them, as I said in my post LOL

but yes it is not a good thing to go through
I think it is because our society we work standing for so long
Stephanie only just found out what was wrong with her back
Her feet is off balance, which is making her knees bad and go in
Thus he back suffers
You should go to a specialist as that is how they found out
Now they are going to give her corrective insoles and tape her knees to keep them straight
