How Exciting!

I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place (if it's not right, Liz please feel free to move it!)

For Christmas my older daughter bought my younger daughter a frog habitat. We had to wait for the tadpoles to arrive due to weather temperatures... but they are FINALLY here!

We will be able to watch them grow from tadpoles into Leopard Frogs... not sure who is more excited... me or her! (I have never seen a tadpole in person before)

Below is a picture of them... (I assure you they are NOT dead, they are still in shock from shipping and they have rolled over & started to swim since I took this picture)

Well... one of them didn't make it... we were calling it "shocker" because it was in shipping shock and not very active. A replacement will be shipped with in 4-6 weeks. That will be cool anyway cause then she can compare sizes!

Way cool! You definitely got the right forum. Frogs are classified as amphibians.

Please post pictures for each stage. I'm excited to see what you guys see.

needless to say that didn't last long! The 2nd tadpole didn't make it either. They are sending a replacement... but I am really believing that the shipping is just too hard on them :shurg:
The new one won't be here for 4-6 weeks and if that doesn't make it than I will try to find somewhere locally that sells them & try it that route.

shipping tadpoles?! WHAT is this world coming to!

Just go down to the local creek and scoop some out! I've done that many times when I was little! heh.

I was going to try the shipping method and they would never send them so I cancelled my order and when I went to our cabin in northern Wis. We found leopard frogs galore up there. I'd like to see if I can find the tadpoles in the water's edge and bring them home.

Hey Feisty, what has happened with the tadpoles? Do you have frogs yet?

Now that spring is finally here you should be able to find lots of tadpoles. I am hoping that the leapord frog that liked to live in our potted plants by the garage last summer comes back. He was pretty freindly as far as amphibians go.

Lizgirl, both tadpoles ended up dying. The company we got them from is supposed to be sending a replacement. Personally I think the shipping is too hard on them, but we'll see when the next one arrives what happens. Maybe they got too cold in shipping last time?
