Kazuki, my ADF

I took some pics of my African Dwarf Frog. The things hanging down are water sprite roots, btw.

I need a proper tank backround . Oh, and he's finally up to a normal weight . I don't know if I told you his story...

I had gotten him and another frog from a petstore late summer. The store didn't even know they had any and hadn't been feeding the frogs . The poor things were probably living off the occasional scrap of fish food. Both were completely emaciated and one died overnight . But Kazuki made a full recovery and I'm getting him another friend for Christmas .

Thank you. They do usually make good betta tankmates unless you get a very nippy frog or fish . Plus they have similar care needs such as not liking a strong current and being carnivores .

Have you seen the bigger version of the african dwarf frogs? I remember back in the day that I had seen them at petsmart.

You mean African Clawed Frogs? They are actually different species . They are pretty cool but need a very large aquarium. I like them a lot, though!

African Clawed Frogs are also called African Dwarf Frogs and many stores can't even tell them apart . They look very similar.

This is what I'm pretty sure you saw:

Those are african clawed frogs. They get MUCH bigger and have different care requirements.I had two albino guys and I loved them. They eat more and need more room then the dwarf frogs.

Stephanie,I think I might give the little guys another chance.I am going to set up a tank probably once I move (soon I hope) and then I will try again.I was doing everything right the last time,as I did alot of research.Maybe I just got a bad bunch,I did get them from Wal-Mart afterall...

millie121 is on a distinguished road
I've never had any luck with petstore frogs, of course I've always had the African Clawed version. The girl I have now (ordered from enasco.com) is doing great and she's 5, so maybe supplier does have something to do with it. Unfortunately her tankmate escaped somehow . The little dwarf frogs are super cute though!

Yeah, a lot of the ones in stores seem unhealthy . I'm lucky that Kazuki made it. The most important things are having a cycled, stable aquarium and a good diet imo .
