My Dwarf frog is hurt - Paw Talk

I have 2 dwarf african frogs in a 10 gal with a betta& guppy.I was gone out for awhile today & when I came back home I found my frog's leg somehow TRAPPED in the filter!

I have the whisper filter that is for smaller tanks& I had nothing but trouble with that filter since I had it! I covered it with a piece of pantyhose to prevent my bettas fins getting caught up.The current made the plants I put there [they were potted] for the purpose of slowing the current... go slanted& now my frog's leg is hurt

! I'm guessing before I can even attempt to use that filter I need a heavily planted tank!

But,the problem with Keroppi.I can't stop crying.Is there nothing I can do for my little frog???

Hopefully Stephanie has some advice for you,because I have never had to deal with any experiances like that.

Oh no

. I've never experienced this because I don't use filters with my frogs. But if he's still able to swim and eat it might heal on it's own. You may want to move him to a smaller tank without a filter so he can easily come to the surface to breathe.

Does the leg look broken?

I have him in a critter keeper at the moment.& I turned off the 2 filters.I'm really going to have to find something else to use.With a lot less current.I really can't use those filters for the fish I have,& definately not the frogs.

The leg looks sprained...if that makes sense.I really think if I was later coming home he would have tried to tear his leg off & it would be my fault

This only happened within the last couple hours.
I haven't seen him eat,but then again they rarely eat when I'm looking

He either can't swim,or choose not to.He stays at the surface of the water & moves as little as possible or stays still.

aww im sry, i just lost my dwarf frog. i dont no how, he was just dead one day =/ but im very sorry about your loss.

:'( Im so sorry!! At least he went and didnt suffer for a long time. That is so sad..
