Newt Pics :)

On Monday I got a pair of paddletail newts, named Rusty and Junior. I finally got some ok pictures of them. It's hard because they like to either hide or hang out by the glass where it's hard to photograph them .

The newt you see in most of the pictures is Junior...the more outgoing, active one. Rusty was hiding in the driftwood.

Junior swimming:

Junior in his favorite spot:

Junior wondering what I'm doing:

Both of them peeking out...Rusty is the one sticking his head out from behind the wood:

Junior again:

Last pic:

In most pics it looks like there are two newts but it's just the glass.

I promise I'll get more pics of Rusty when he's not hiding...like feeding time .

They seem very content in their new habitat . I'll be getting a bunch more plants this week. The ones in there now are cheap PetCo plants...one is dead and another is half-dead already! There's a nice exotics petstore nearby that had really, really nice plants but they were too expensive at the time. But now I'm definately going back .

This is an old thread and my newts have since passed on .

I did not use a uv light as newts don't need one.

As far as plants I think I had hornwort, anubius, ludwigia, water sprite, and a few others I forgot.

They are adorable. Are they 100% aquatic or 50% aquatic & 50% land? Thanks.
