Animal Cruelty!!!!!

When I was out with my mom and godmother, we passed a small cluster of pet shops. The first animals we saw were birds. I don't know what breed, but I think they were small finches. Their feathers were falling out and couldn't sing . Their feet were blistered and red from the state of the cage . I don't recall if there was food or water, but I think not . Then there were s. They were all wet b'cos a guy had gone and squirted water all over them . The tank was about 15-20 gallons and had bedding, but there was NO food, NO water, and they were all running around frantically to get away from the person who was squirting them . They were young Syrians, I think just weaned . The only healthy animals we saw were a group of young kittens, fat and happy.

You should report them. There is no reason an animal should be squirted with water, and according to the Animal Welfare Act they need to have food and water at all times. The finches should have a nice clean, spacious cage. Do you have a local ASPCA near you? If not, I would call your local law enforcement or USDA office and report them.

ASPCA has a website http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer and you can look for shelters near you and the shop . . . just call them and they'll file a report and check it out! I had to do this one . . . it breaks my heart that people go to sell animals and they can't take care of a single one!
