Cat Survives Cross Country Move In Drawer
How stupid are the owners not to check where their poor kitten was before the movers took their stuff. I would have been frantic......

Cat Survives Cross-Country Move in Drawer
RENO, NV-May 10, 2004 — A cat named Lilly didn't see any of her two-week cross-country trip to Nevada. She was in a drawer the whole time.
The two-year-old Siamese disappeared April 20th after movers showed up to pack the belongings of her owners in Tarrytown, New York.
The couple searched everywhere for the cat, and put up reward signs around the neighborhood before leaving for Reno.
Last week, when a mover was taking the last piece of furniture off the truck, he opened a dresser drawer to get a grip on it. And there was Lilly.
The couple says Lilly was a little stunned, but after some tender loving care, she came around. Before long, she was running around and purring.

Ok, I would have done a head count of all children and animals before going anywhere. What were they thinking???????

OMG! How did that cat survive for 2 weeks with no food or water and stuck in a drawer!!?? Poor Kitty! Whenever we move, the dogs are in the yard and all other small animals (cats when we had them, snake when we had one, and chins) are all in their crates in a room that the movers are not allowed to touch! Although when we had the snake, they wouldn't even go near the tank until Pandora was removed from it and put into her sack and then into her crate They wouldn't even enter that room if the snake could be seen at all!

We once had a chinchilla come in who'd lived for two MONTHS in a drawer. The people thought she'd gotten out of the house. Instead she'd gotten into a set of drawers they never use. It took a while, but she finally regained her strength and went home.
I couldn't imagine losing the cat like that though!

Chinchilla Girl & Jade, I have no idea how this poor kitty survived for 2 weeks with no food and no water. But, there was more to this story on the news, that there was on the internet posting. They said that the kitty, when it was found, was really bad and they had to nurse it back to health slowly. The owners at the end of this article make it sound like it was a slam dunk and everything was ok, peachy keen. A little TLC, my foot. Jade is right, it took a while to nurse the chinchilla back to health, so it most likely took a while to nurse the poor kitty back to health too.

I am glad that she's ok. My friend and I were talking last night bout how dependant cats are on us. they depend on us for the food....and everythign. I don't want to imagine wh at the poor Kitty had to go thru!

Me either Eli. I can't imagine with she went through. You're right about the dependancy though. Since they never grow up to learn to talk, like kids do, they are dependent on us all of their lives for everything. I just wish sometimes my cat could tell me whenever he's get constipated, or even has a headache. Do cats or dogs even get headaches
I also saw this article on our local news website. Written by the Associated Press. The article is attached.
