chicken fights-should they be allowed? - Paw Talk

my uncles and cousins fight chickens. i told them to stop and i even called the police..but they're still at it! what should i do? i really need help!

No it definately should not be allowed and in most places it is not allowed. What did the police do? Is there an ASPCA near? They need all chickens taken away and need to be fined! There is no need for cockfighting. Chickens are not my favorite species, but they deserve to not be treated that way just the same as dogs.

I would report them to the SPCA if I were you, police don't always do much when it comes to animal matters.

It also depends on if it is illegal in your area. If there is no law, you can't do anything about it other than report if the chickens are kept in poor conditions. It's illegal here in NC, but I know of people that take them to SC where it is legal to fight them. It's a shame and you can write to your state senator and try to get a law passed, but unless there is a law in effect, their isn't much you can do. Maybe you can get them confinscated if they are in poor conditions or contact the SPCA for law information and have them checked on. Poor chickens...it's really a shame!

The cops only told them to stop and if they get another call, they will have to report them to ASPCA or HSUS. hopefully they stop for good!

Yeah, if the cops told them to stop, then it may very well be illegal in your state in which case you can call the SPCA and get something done about it

No state in this country sanctions animal fighting ... including SC. Whomever told you it was legal here is sadly misinformed.

I ammend that .. Louisiana and New Mexico still allow it if I am not mistaken.
