Coroner accused of cruelty to guinea pigs

Coroner Accused Of Cruelty To Guinea Pigs - News Story - WGAL Lancaster

I am not sure I agree with this one.

He apparently does know how to care for them, but maybe he had too many together?

He kept them, he watched them... What else was he supposed to do?

It is cases like these that make me cautious about animal cruelty charges.

Yea but he should have seperated them if they were fighting like that. The article said that the wounds were infected and they should have never gotten that far. Like they say no blood no foul, where there was blood, so it was a foul.

If you look at the pictures, he had literally 20-30 pigs in a space that should have only housed 3-4. I've seen pictures of the pigs that were taken in by the rescue. Some were missing both eyes from fights, most were missing one, and many were sightless. They had huge open wounds on their back (bigger than the enormous open wound on the back of the one in some of the pictures). Disgusting. He even claimed that it was "normal" for guinea pigs to eat their dead young. I've only seen extremely malnourished pigs do this at all.

Also did anyone else notice the dust on the cages? The cages werent necessarily dirty on the inside but the cages themselves were filthy!

I never saw the pics on the link until someone mentioned there was a link to them, even if I posted it, so yeah, it sucks.

wow he s being extremely irrespondsible as a gp owner...why is he breeding them...the numbers are out of control...the enclosure is horrible...just a small bin with no toys...a carrot here and there...and giving them away..if these were truly his pets he would be concerned as to whom it would go to...

I think this is the rescue that took the pigs.

Have-A-Heart Guinea Pig Rescue

If you scroll down to news, they've got pictures of the pigs. It's terrible and graphic.

Here are the individual pages for these piggies... again, these pictures are very graphic, just warning:
