Unhappy

guinea pig and ferrets

I went into a store in Lubbock, Tx and found a guinea pig being housed with ferrets. I tried to talk to the owner of the shop about this not being a good idea for the guinea pig and got a really rude response. ( I don't think I was nasty.) Is there anyone to complain to about the situation? I have personally seen ferrets kill guinea pigs and they are apex preditors and the guinea pig is a prey animal.

I'd definitely try to talk to them. Pet stores can be a pain the the butt though. Once my cousin and I were are a store and they were feeding the guinea pigs a mix with a bunch of sun flower seeds. We tried to tell the manager that they could choke on the seeds so they weren't a good idea to feed them. The manager said that the vet said the seeds (shell and all) were fine, so they weren't going to do anything about it.

This thread doesn't belong here in this part of the forum.

But I would definatly say something.
A ferret is a predator and may just turn on the piggie, not to mention they have different diets and things.Explain to the manager that it would be better to house them seperate.Alot of pet stores don't care anyway and only want to make a quick buck, but try your best.
