Hi! New Here~ Concern for Chickens.....opinions please?

Ok~ so I hope this doesnt sound too crazy but here it goes, it's really been bothering me...

Going down the highway the other day, I come up on a truck, big truck...feathers are flying everywhere. I go to pass this truck and look to much horror, this truck had four levels of tiny wire cages (smaller then the chickens)....hundreds of chickens were (I'm sure) on their way to death, packed in like sardines....one looked like a contortionist....some were already dead from I'm sure suffocation. I know they are going to be slaughtered anyway, but isnt it considered inhumane to make them suffer like this? At least when they kill them, they don't suffer.... but this just really made me sick to my stomach. I havnt been able to eat chicken since....

Any thoughts or knowledge on this would be sooo appreciated. Thanks in advance

I have no idea Kimberely on how that would work. Generally I think the whole thing is inhumane...I still eat chicken....I looovvveeee chicken but seeing those trucks isn't very nice! I guess you could always ring the aspca and report the company to them.

Thanks so much for your reply and input You know, I searched online and found out it's worse then I thought....they use battery cages and cut their beaks also..... I just don't understand why they have to be so abusive to these animals. I know they are going to be killed anyway but at least let them enjoy what life they do have to live until then. Thinking I may go veggo after seeing all of this.....

Pretty much all animals used for food are treated like this. Its called factory farming and I have been veggie for years because of it. My fiance' became veggie too after reading about it as well. Its very sad and I have a hard time because most of my friends and family are animal lovers-yet they eat meat. They either don't know about these farming practices or choose not to think about it because its too sad. Luckily more and more people are becoming more aware of these issues so I think its going to get better from here on. Lots of people are going veggie for health reasons too so maybe the meat industry will become more humane in the future.

Yup I live in a farming 'community' too and this is all I see around here too... To treat animals more humane costs more, so it's not often that I see anything other than that, sadly.
