Yeah, they've pulled it off of the shelves at work. I just realized that Blue Buffalo food that I've been feeding my dogs from Petsmart doesn't have wheat gluten in it. Whatever they were puking for, they aren't doing it anymore.

I just bought some Nutro wet for cats and some Nutro wet and dry for dogs about...3-5 days ago. And everything seems fine. Should I contact anyone to find out if something is up? Are the symptoms delayed? I just haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.

I bought the new food cause PetCo said they sent all the bad food back.

I thank heavens I never fed my animals any of that but do feel for the people who have lost pets.I boycott IAMS due to their animal cruelty.

Jane,
I found this link that says signs of illness usually show up within a couple of days. It's a whole series of Q and A from the FDA. Of course, it also says no dry food has been recalled, and that is no longer true, so maybe it's a bit outdated. There are some 1-800 numbers though if you're really concerned. Pet supplies plus also told me that anything left on the shelves is just fine.
Menu Foods Pet Food Recall FAQ's

Here's a Q&A from menu foods as well, if that helps anything. They say there's no reason to suspect it goes beyond the recalled food. I suppose it takes each consumers level of trust to determine how they interpret that statement.

If you go to menu foods website, they have a list of the UPCs of the cans/pouches that got recalled. I personally would be a little cautious of it, but I honestly don't know any more.

Just a bit about a block on wheat gluten from a certain source. I noticed that paragraph 4 says something about treats. I didn't see anything about treats recalled? I'm going to try to find more about that out too.

FDA bars wheat gluten used in recalled pet food - Pet Health - MSNBC.com

Edited to add, it appears to Del Monte treats that are recalled:

Owners may get little in pet food lawsuits - Pet Health - MSNBC.com
"Del Monte Pet Products is as voluntarily recalling some of its dog and cat treats with certain date codes. The affected brands are Jerky Treats Beef Flavor Dog Snacks, Gravy Train Beef Sticks Dog Snacks and Pounce Meaty Morsels Moist Chicken Flavor Cat Treats. The company said two other products sold under private labels also are affected: Ol’ Roy Beef Flavor Jerky Strips Dog Treats and Ol’ Roy Beef Flavor Snack Stick Dog Treats."

I've been feeding Sandy, a kitten, the Pounce chicken treats. She wasn't eating the 2.4 oz that were recalled, but the 3 oz. ones. She has been peeing all over the house, shaking, and drooling. She is going to the vet tomorrow. She also had 9 lives wet food, which is made by the same company, Del Monte, but wasn't recalled.

Natural balance too. CONTAINS NO WHEAT OR WHEAT GLUTEN - SO WHAT IS IT?

They are now recalling some Natural Balance foods. This company uses no wheat gluten, or wheat for that matter, as far as I know. So what gives? Did those pet owners feed EXCLUSIVELY this product?

Been doing some research. Apparently they suspect the rice protein concentrate. They are investigating to see if it came from the same supplier as the wheat gluten.
