Well, in Petsmart's defense, I worked at two Petsmarts. The ones that I worked at actually did care for the animals. Now, there were the select few employees that just didn't care, but overall, they were well cared for and the ones that weren't caring for them were let go. The store and its care of the animals is only as good as its employees. Same thing with any business whether it be a hair salon or a doctor's office.

The problem is often not the employees, who are caring, but oftentimes held back from making more compassionate decisions by management, but primarily where the animals are bought from. They mill breed small animals just like puppies and kittens, and regardless of how nice the employees are there, the money still goes into the pockets of people abusing animals and fueling an overpopulation problem.

Yeah, you got me there. The place where they buy their animals sucks.

I also wanted to mention for the people who claim they can't buy online because they have no credit card...well alot of places will take money orders/cheques.I don't have a credit card or Paypal and so I pay by MO.I have never had problems.Look into it and see if they accept MO's.

i do believe paying for the animal basically pays for more to suffer..but if everybody went out to buy an animal to "save"it is just selfish.the reason these animals suffer is because people keep giving business to the company to keep buying animals to keep supply up for the demand.Say if 5 people went in and explained to a manager(who doesnt care and wont listen anyway but for theoretical purposes, say)why they refused to buy anything in the store because of the welfare of the animal then theres say,5 less animals bought and 5 less being bred for sale....in the long run these animals are being saved just by not buying them because not only will you not get a sick and traumitized,un-socialised animal thats no fun to handle, you get the knowledge that although its hard to let these things pass it is making a difference.
