Pit Bulls in Denver
I was listening to the radio this morning and they had a report on Denver about their ban on pit bulls. I'm trying to remember it correctly but I was appaulled...
Pit bulls were banned 1989 but was suspended by the state and most recently they have been able to start enforcing it again.
The radio show said they had taken over 300 pit bulls. It does not matter whether they have ever exhibited behavior or if they are even pure bred. If it looks like a pit bull, they take it to be put down.
These people should at least be given a chance to show their pets are not a threat to people.... I don't know much about pit bulls but I know the few I'd met were sweet. I know many rotweillers, dobermans, etc... we all know its the owner that makes the difference. Its these breeders, trainers, and owners who are doing the wrong to these animals that should be sought out. And of course the dangerous animals but not all those that look like one.

I heard about this on another forum, and was beyond floored. It borders on insanity.
They just show up at these people's homes and take their dog away. It could be a lab mix, but if it looks like a pit... its gone.
They said that pit owners are trying to smuggle their dogs out of Denver. I hope they succeed.

Doggie Underground Railroad
Yup they're trying to smuggle them out... a man called into the radio station to say his friend was just driving an area (near denver I assume) and his dog was seized and put down. So sad...

That is DISCUSTING and sooooo wrong on so many levels! God knows enough people around here think Dante is a Pit Bull (he's not). There's no way in **** I'll let them seize him! I can not BELIEVE that people anywhere think that this is an appropriate form of behaviour! Those poor dogs

I agree with you lizz, they'd have to fight me tooth and nail to take my dog. Especially if i was JUST DRIVING through. Its absolutely sickening beyond words.

All I have to say is...if someone tried to take MY dogs and kill them, it wouldn't be the dogs that would end up dead...that's for sure!

That is terrible! How could someone make such a law and enforce it without feeling so horrible that they couldn't live with themselves? It's just so unbelievable...

Does anyone know who we can write to or call to protest this new law? Is this America?

Thats insane and totally judgmental ... Most of the pit bulls Ive ever come into contact with have been sweethearts. This all reminds me of a animation that was put together on Deviantart.com by some genius artist/animal lover. It still makes me cry. Check it out ... its really touching

I posted the petition on 8 other forums, on a blog at Myspace, and on at least 10 Myspace dog groups. Hopefully it got a lot more signatures.

Formula, all I've seen is the petition which Lixx posted in the dogs section of the forum... I had a link for it up a few posts back on the 2nd page... if you find a boycott let us know though!
