What I was trying to say was that the media always jumps on these kinds of stories while rarely talking about responsible owners. These kinds of things don't happen that often but the media makes them seem like daily things.
*shrugs* It's the same as the whole pitbull situation. But let's not get into that .

Exactly! The media RARELY (if ever) has a good story about responsible repltile owners,it is exactly like the pitbull situation!

Any type of news is going to cover the worst. They don't do "good" stories. They might tell you Easter Seals raised so much money or have a positive community moment, but that's about it.
The worse the news, the bigger the headlines.

The media is real annoying when it comes to animals... I agree w/ everyone that a puppys life isnt any more valuable than a rabbit or mouses. And people never talk about the good pet owners. Its always "a pit bull killed/attacked so-and-so and now we're gonna put down the dog" or something like that, but no one mentions the responsible owners who take care of their animals so they dont kill/attack anyone. I think thats why so many innocent animal species have such a bad rep. Uggg.... Sory, Im kinda off topic!

I understand what you're saying, but the point of the news and whatnot is to get peoples attention. What would they say about good pet owners? Unless it was something rare, like an animal saving someone or something, they're not going to report it. Your not going to see stories of random people who take good care of their pets, because that's not (thank god) a rare thing.
I mean look what they report about people...it's never anything about normal people living normal lives, it's always the more interesting events, whether they are good or bad. That's just how the media is. It's up to the people watching it to relize that what their watching is baised and not everyone is the same.

I think they should have a "Good Pet Owner Report" in the news or something so we can reconize responsible people too and not just the irresponsible people.
