Tragic/Infuriating - Paw Talk

Two weeks - two raids...including the biggest bust in my state's history. The problem of dog fighting is growing by leaps and bounds here, and is not a sign of a healthy society.

If they could get rid of gangs a lot of it might fade, but a culture where any life is cheap is not going to worry over animal life either.

You are 100% right on, dogslife. A really good kid was shot and killed about a half-mile from where I live. He and his father had the nerve to stand up to a bunch of thugs and so ended up dead in the street. It's a terrible situation. Human life isn't worth much around here, so you can imagine what they think of dogs.

What a sin,I HATE pitbull fighting.It just makes me mad.Because there are so many bred to fight,they are often not treated well and are aggressive and thats where people start to fear them.They then assume ALL pitbulls and bully breeds are dangerous.Grrrrr...

i do agree this is a baaad situation. but it's not getting worse, it's always been around, we're just now finding it. our world seems to waver between even and extremist. i feel like now is one of the extremist times, with evil, and the strong moral good that's now reporting to authorities. i'm pretty sure dog fighting's been around for centuries. it's a part of organized crime. and both are very hard to get rid of, along with horse and greyhound racing. seeded with evil lol all about the greed, that's why i refuse to go to a casino *cringes* oooh the thought

Mulder's right dog fighting isn't getting worse. It's always been around and it's taken this long to encourage people to stand up for the animals that are mistreated. It's sad that animals and humans are mistreated just for fame or fortune.

I am not a fan of greyhound racing,but since I am with a rescue organization (Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada) for 6 yrs,we can now say that the tracks are improving ALOT.With public awareness,the track kennels do take better care of the dogs now.But I am still not a fan.

And horse racing,I keep hearing so much bad stuff...yet,there is a track here and it is not bad at all.The animals are taken care of and when they retire they go to a sanctuary or homes.Newfoundland is pretty good about that.

But I do agree...these "sports" are just because of greed.And that is something that makes me angry.

When God gave us animals to enjoy, I dont think he ment for us to enjoy watching them suffer. Ugg, the world is soooooooo messed up...

I grew up in a mixed ethnic area, lots of races of all kinds, and I don't remember ever hearing about dog fighting or cock-fighting until the gangland culture got started in those areas.

I think it may be getting worse in urban areas especially. Traveling in the more rural areas, I have never heard of people doing it and I spend a lot of time traveling rural areas.
