Unfit conditions

I tried talking to the manager after helping them catch loose mice that got out and she was extremely rude so I sent an e-mail out. And so far nothing. I am so aggrivated that no one cares. Esp. after the petfood recall there should be no exception to there being several month old food laying out for sale.As for the animals that's just cruel selfish and disturbing . I will look into animal care and control.

nothing happened noone cares about rodents all that much out here. It makes me sad but all I can do is tell everyone I know what great pets they make and hope fully people will respect and care about their safety one day

My very LAST time purchasing anything from a pet store was when my family [minus me] was in the city.I asked for a hamster& a 2nd budgie.Well first they looked for hamsters in the pet stores& the place reeked [they literally took off their clothes to throw it out when they went to the hotel]& the last place they went to they got me a budgie bird that lasted a very very short time.
My uncle went to the "good" pet store awhile after to see if he could pick me up another bird,& he came back& said THAT was a good pet store?? He went around to every single pet store in St.Johns& when he returned he said he's never doing that again,you feel like your witnessing a murder going through the doors.
I'm glad I never was in either.
All my pets now come from ads or from good breeders,& as for food etc I buy online or in places like Wal-mart.
(it's close to me).
As for food for my geckos& snake...I buy online from East Coast Canadian Feeders.
There isn't one half decent pet store in Newfoundland.
Note I didn't say "decent",I said "half decent".
For people not "fond" of animals to walk in them& feel awful,you know it's bad !

My only pet that came directly from a pet store was Maddie (Madeline,my cockatiel) & the birds were the only thing cared for in that pet store.
No pet stores for me.
I'm serious,you have a lot of ...idk what..to be able to walk in a pet store in Newfoundland& buy an animal.
Your not "rescuing" that way here.
Pet stores here are more than happy to get in more pets to sell again...I sometimes think they treat animals so horrible so the public thinks they are rescuing them from bad conditions.
Treat animals horrid = animal lovers feel bad = they pay cash $$$ = process starts over.

I hope that bad pet store you went to closes down!!!

Actually here in Newfoundland there are a couple of decent pet stores.Your family must of never been to those.Petcetera,one of the Pet City's and Critters & Things are all decent.Oh and there is a fish store called Tropical & Marine Pets which is decent.I have been to these stores many,many times and they are actually decent compared to other stores.

Pets Unlimited on the other hand,which is where your family must of been...they are known as "Death Unlimited",are horrible.

^^^But I heard bad things about those too from people who go back& forth the city every week now.The only thing I can honestly say I never heard dissed is the Tropical & Marine Pets . There was another one that was supposed to be closed down,well was for a bit,Rainforest Pets? I think it's re-opening.
I heard quite a few people dissing that or being peeved off.
I havent been to either 'personally' but when I hear bad things I'm afraid to go in them in case it's true .

Hmmm...well Petcetera is not bad at all (aside from having some crazy prices on stuff and small tanks).I know the manager,Heather there and she is a huge animal lover and does alot for the store.

There are two Pet City's here...one in the Avalon Mall,which is the decent one (altho I admit they have been idiots in the past) and I know a few of the workers there as well and the one in the Village Mall is just wrong in general.The workers are rude and dumb and I have some horror stories from there.

Tropical & Marine Pets is good.I call it "Paul's place"...cuz the owner is Paul and he is always there.He knows what he is talking about and whatnot.And the tanks are always clean.

Yep,Rainforest Pets...bad place.I went there a few times and at first it seemed they were okay.Then I met Kjaerstin who worked there temporarily and found out so much stuff going on there.Then they closed down and I have horror stories bout there too.If they re-open,I hope they have different owners!

The owner of Rainforest Pets was the same guy who owns the disgusting Pet City in the Village.

But everyone has their own opinions...so maybe thats why you heard otherwise from some other people.I know people who like "Death Unlimited"...

Oh-Mi-gosh...that is awful.
That poor dead mouse& that live mousey wishing for water...I can't tolerate pet stores at all.
