Unfit conditions

I went to another petstore to get dog food but when I got there all the treats on the shelves had cobbwebs on them and were out dated by at least a month or wwwaayyy over due. So I decided to check out the rest of the store and when I looked at the rodents section the rats and mice cages were (undescribe) filthy. The females mouse cage had a dead half eaten mouse, a mouse with a tail that got cut off by something and another mouse had a horrible eye infection. So I decided to call the news station. I feel a little better but I still feel sorry for those animals. I just wish we could save them all but we can't. .

Oh my goodness, that's really disgusting. Glad you're taking steps to do something about it! I wish pet stores were more strictly regulated. Animals are not just a commodity, they are living creatures.

That is so sickening! Do what ever you can to get that place shut down. People like that should be banned from ever having animals. I have nothing more to say, I'm just too disgusted!!

Oh that is horrible! I can't stand it when there is a dead fish in the fish tank at a pet store - but a dead half eatten mouse! How could they leave it like that. Even if they are only a way to make money for them it's bad business to leave dirty and dead animals.
I always said that pet stores with puppies should be on top of the cages. From a business stand point there should never be poo or pee in the cages. People looking to buy a puppy don't want to see the puppy sitting in it's poo or pee. I always said they would sell more puppies if people never were able to think about the puppy peeing or pooing.
Besides it's just the right thing to do. I hope the news catches them a mess and they either close or clean up their act!

I haven't seen it on the news yet but I am takeing pictures to e-mail them. I took some with the camera phone but I couldn't get them on the computer so I am going back tomorrow with my digital. Hopefully that'll do some reinforcement.

Ewww.

I went into this petstore that had about 100 or more birds. It was noisy and stinky. They had a few tanks of mice and rats on these rubbermaid looking shelves. I walked around and it was horrible. There was dust and TRASH everywhere. There was cobwebs on everything. They had bulk food and there was one labels monkey chow!!! I remember going in there years before and seeing the same thing labeled monkey chow.

This was the worse thing. We were in there 5 minutes. When we left we had to coat ourselves in AXE to get the smell off. When I got home I took a shower and changed clothes. It was so nasty. Sadly I couldn't find the name of the petstore so Ic ouldn't report them. I looked and looked but I couldn't find it.

Was it a small, privately owned one or chain, like petco.

It was a petco, the news stations aren't replying back though.They probably don't care about the story. I don't know what else I can do now. If anyone knows of something else I can do please let me know I do have 2 pictures that I was able to get with my digital if that helps at all.

You should report them to animal control or something. That's horrable!

I never understand why so many pet stores are so crappy either! I mean serously, who would want to buy an animal covered in it's own crap from a place that stinks? When I see pet stores like that, I complain and walk right out.

Maybe you could complain to the store owner or manager or something? I know it usually doesn't do much, but at least let them know they lost at least one customer
