Where can I find out about pet laws where I live?

Where can I find out more about pet laws in my town, such as leash laws and the like? I live in a tiny (very very tiny) Missouri town called "Clinton", and I wouldn't have the slightest idea of where to go to get that info... any help is appreciated!

Your best bet would be to find a website for your local shelter, SPCA, or Humane Society/Association. Usually these websites will have all pet/animal laws available for anyone to read through. If your small town doesn't have an SPCA or HS, try finding one for your entire county. Usually the animal/pet laws are specific for each county, although they're all generally the same. There may be some variances...like some counties do not have leash laws, but rather, they have "control" laws. A leash law will state that your dog must be on a leash at all times when outside of your property. Meanwhile, a "control" law will state your dog must be under your control at all times while outside of your property...meaning it can be leashed, or off-leash, as long as it can see/hear you and you can give it commands.

Unfortunately, I do not live in an area where I can legally let the dogs off-leash. Oh well...

Okay thanks I know our local shelter doesn't have a website (heck its not even that much of a shelter....it has 10 dog pens and about 15 cat cages and thats it! LOL), but I think we have a county humane society...maybe... lol but I will look for information there, thanks!

Do you have a town hall or something like that? Maybe a police dept.? They usually know about leash laws.
