I just wanted to let all the rescue members here know that my company, Miyabita Designs, is currently offering a free website design for animal rescues. It is a premade layout, but it will have all of the information and appropriate links for your individual rescue. http://tsukiyo.org/Design/DogRescue/ is an example of the layout for a dog rescue. I am working on other layouts so there will be at least two choices for the main species (dogs and cats), and I will put together layouts for other species as requests come in. This is absolutely free. All you need to provide is the info and pictures you want on the site and a host (I can use a free host like Geocities or Tripod if your rescue does not want to purchase a hosting service and domain name). I can also do free simple graphics (like logos or a webset) for rescues in exchange for a link back to the company website.

Please note that this offer is for rescues only. If breeders, pet supply dealers, etc. want a website or graphic, it will be at my normal rates which can be found at http://www.tsukiyo.org/Design/design.html

I figure, I do not have the money to donate right now. I cannot foster animals because we live in air force base housing. Our shelter here is so small that there is not much help they need there. So this is my way of helping animals in need. :)

I would have to pay for a host right? If so, could I host? What does that mean? I have never done a web site, could you tell me how? I do put info and stuff on my petfinder web site is it anything like that? If so I know how and I could do it easly. Please let me know. ---Hailee

You have a few options if you'd like a site. You can go with a place like Geocities or Angelfire and use their free hosting option. If you have your own domain name (or if you want to register one) you can host your site through a hosting provider. There are many out there ranging from free to expensive. A third route would be using your home computer if you have high speed internet. Using a service such as DynDNS will allow you to host the files on your home computer for the cost of electricity.

Miyabita -- awesome idea for a way to give back!

It takes very little of your time to have a website built for you. For a rescue, all you have to do is send me the information you want on the site, pictures of currently adoptable pets and their info, and contact info for people wanting to adopt. Then you tell me whether you want a free host of if you want to pay for one. If you want a free host, I usually go with Tripod. If you want a paid hosting service, I recommend some to you then let you decide which to use. So really, there is very little of your time taken up. That is the whole reason for website design companies. They take the time and the hassle out of websites because they do all the work. Plus they make sure the website looks nice, works well, and shows up in search engines, which is something that a lot of people who do not know much about websites are not able to do.

Okay,
I will try but I am just going to tell you I have never done this before, and I might ask some stupid questions that everyone knows! So please e-mail me at mebecutein2004@aol.com and please tell me what I need to do. We do not have any money so if there was even a small charge we could not do it. Please let me know if it is all free! I would have to sit down and make boi's for all of the dogs we have and that could take me a while so please let me know as soon as possible so that I can get started. I asked the president at the last board meeting and she said that I could do the web site or whatever as long as all info was right and all animals are posted, and it was FREE and she made that very clear..LOL! Please let me know..TTYL

Okay, here is how it works:

http://tsukiyo.org/Design/DogRescue/ is the layout I use for dog rescues. I plan to have more to choose from in the future, but right now that is all I have made up.

All I need is for you to fill in the blanks. Rescue name, what you want your homepage to say (Usually a description of your rescue, what species and breeds you rescue, and your general location). Then you send me pictures and descriptions (like "Jake is a 3-year-old border collie mix with a wonderful temperament. He loves children, but is not good with small animals. He has thyroid problems so he needs to take a pill for it every day. He needs a loving home that will take care of him and be able to give him his medications." Just an example, obviously.) of animals you currently have available for adoption. Send your contact information (however you want people who are interested in adopting to get ahold of you: could include name, phone number, address, email, etc.). That is all you have to send.

If you have anything else you want to add, just send it my way, and I will put it on the site. Some of the things I would suggest adding would be applications (if you have an application for someone that wants to adopt a pet, a printable version can be put online so people can have it filled out and ready to go when they meet you...or I can even set it up so they can email their application answers to you via a form), links to other rescues in your area, ways people can help your rescue (money donations, items needed, foster homes needed, etc.). Once the site is up, the only thing you have to do is send pictures and info for new animals you have available for adoption or other things you want changed on the site.

My email address is sarah@tsukiyo.org or chin_rex@yahoo.com so if you want a website done just send the info there. Once I get a few more layouts for dogs, if you would prefer a different layout, I can change it over later, too.

I just made some bird rescue and rabbit rescue layouts, so people with bird rescues and rabbit rescues now have something:

http://tsukiyo.org/Design/Rescue/BirdRescue/ - Cockatiel based

http://tsukiyo.org/Design/Rescue/BirdRescue2/ (Personally, I LOVE this one) - Parrots

http://tsukiyo.org/WebDesign/Layouts/Grassrabbit/grassrabbit.html - Rabbit

http://tsukiyo.org/WebDesign/Layouts/tearabbit.html - Rabbit

http://tsukiyo.org/WebDesign/Templates/4/ - rabbit

I have a lot of rabbit ones because I made these up before I was offering free websites to rescues. Of course, I still need to make one for cats. LOL.

I also have ones not related to animals that could be used.

http://tsukiyo.org/WebDesign/Templates/1/
http://tsukiyo.org/WebDesign/Templates/2/
http://tsukiyo.org/WebDesign/Templates/3/
http://tsukiyo.org/WebDesign/Templates/5/

So, if you know anyone who has a rescue and needs a website, I have plenty of options, and more coming soon. I intend to have at least one layout for dogs, cats, exotic birds, rabbits, small animals, and reptiles.
