Anyone else hear of tasmaskan dogs? They were JUST introduced to America like 2 years ago, if that...they are basically mutts turned into a real breed (mix of GS, Husky, etc). They are bred to look exactly like wolves, but have extremely pleasant and reliable temperments...that way, people will quit pretending wolves are pets and be able to have a beautiful "wolf" of their own that isn't a wolf at all! I would actually love to have one of these dogs someday, but it isn't as easy to get one since no one knows about them. They are mostly found in Europe right now.

I have been talking with the president of the national tamaskan club of america, and she said within a year there should be many more US breeders. She said right now the breed goes for about $2k. I'm not sure if that included importing them though. I definitely plan to own one in the near future, they're so beautiful and I'm thrilled they are bred for temperment.

Hi,

I do realize that there's a chance no one is viewing this thread anymore, but I do not think that the image posted is that of a real Tamaskan Dog. I am basing this judgment according to the pictoral standard found at the global website of Tamaskan Dogs.

Here is a picture of one the first puppies born in America (June 2007):
