Scribbled Angelfish/Chaetodontoplus duboulayi

These fish are found in the Pacific Ocean in coral reef areas. They are rare in the aquarium trade but make great pets and will readily take food from their owners' hand.

Maintenance difficulty:
This fish is easy to keep if you get a healthy specimen.

It is important that you feed angelfish all kinds of live, frozen, and prepared formula foods. Best to feed small amounts several times a day. A good formula that can be made at home consists of mussels, shrimp, squid, and spinach.

Habitat: Natural geographic location:
Found on coastal and inner feefs of Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia, southern New Guinea and the Aru Islands. Generally seen at depths between 1-20 meters (3-66 ft.).

Natural Foods:
Crustaceans, coral polyps, algae, grazer.

Social Behaviors:
Usually found in small groups.

Sexual differences:
Known but I haven't found it yet.

Light: Recommended light levels:
No special requirements.

Not accomplished in captivity. See Breeding Marine Fish page for a description of how they reproduce in the wild.

No special requirements. Normal temperatures for marine fish lies between 75 and 79 degrees.

Length/Diameter of fish:
Adults can grow to 25.5 cm (10 inches).

Minimum Tank Length/Size:
A minimum 60 gallon aquarium is recommended.

Water Movement: Weak, Moderate, Strong
No special requirements.

Water Region: Top, Middle, Bottom
Not applicable. Offer plenty of hiding places.

This fish is rarely available and is usually very expensive.
