Anyone know a good place to adopt a kitten?

Hi,

I am a huege lover of cats and would like 2 kittens.

Where would be the best place to get a kitten (in North Carolina)

And a place that has pictures of the kittens, and where i can get the kitten for free.

petfinder.com, craigslist, or your local humane society is sure to have free kittens, they're really abundant

I already tried there.

I guess it is really hard to find a white kitten near my area.

I did a google search and found that cats are expensive to get. I am often finding kittens for over $100

Check your local newspaper ads!
I am always seeing 100's of ads for free kittens around here.

Maybe you know someone who has kittens?
My cousin's neighbour had a litter of kittens and thats how I got my two.Just check around.

Or you can put up an ad saying you would like two kittens.

PLEASE check out your local animal shelter for kittens. Actually, online would be better because someone may be a foster parent and so you wouldn't find the kitten in the shelter that you could adopt. If you don't see a white kitten online, you could always still contact the foster parent or the shelter and ask them if they're aware of any white kittens that are available.

I'm adopting a cat who is just over a year old and I need to take her to the vet for her distemper and rabies shot. I think each one is around $8.00. HOWEVER, you should go to a vet that you like, but prices do vary from vet to vet. So call around too. Another perk of adopting from a shelter is that sometimes they include these shots and the spaying/neutering in the adoption fee.

Keep us posted! Good luck!

Ok, I found there is sometimes "Free Fixing day" at some shelter or something.

I did already look online at shelter's sites. And i found the cutest kittens on another site, free and comes with nothing.

What shots do kittens have to have? The only one i have herd of was a 3-in-1 shot that they get like 4 times then get it yearly. And these kittens will only be indoor cats.

Your kitten should have the 3 in 1, rabies, and be vet checked. Where I live the 3 in 1 and rabies shots costs about $18.00 total when administered by the vet. In addition, the office visit usually runs around $35.00. If you want to have the kitten checked for FeLuk that's an additional charge. Neuter/spay runs anywhere from $45-60, unless you qualify for a low cost spay/neuter clinic.

If you adopt from a shelter, particularly a kill shelter, the adoption fee will include the inoculations and spay/neuter. Most importantly, you will be saving a viable animal from euthanization.

The last "free" kitten I got cost me over $150. in the first week after she became ill. That was before the inoculations and spay.

Good luck whatever you decide.

WOW...your prices are cheap!

Here the vet charges $45 JUST for a visit and then plus whatever meds, tests, worming or whatever costs...to spay a kitten it costs $240 (about) and to nueter a kitten is about $145.Around there anyway.

Thats at the vet I go to.It is a little more at other places!

I'm in a rural community, in Oklahoma, which might explain why our prices are less expensive.

I like petfinder.com myself. I know some people who adopted, and they never had a problem.

most of the humane shelters do have an adoption fee but they normally come with first vaccines spayed or neutered and some felv/fiv tested so in the end it cheaper than going to a vet for all that.

why breed or buy when shelter animals die
