Aww she is adorable! There was a kitten that looked just like that from the litter that I got my kitten from, I ALMOST got him, but I really didn't want a boy cat.

She is SOO cute, I love the lighter markings on her. What coloring would that be called?

at the shelter I worked at in new york, that's called muted Tortoiseshell! You see she has a little orange in her fur just like a tortoisehell! But i am not sure whether muted tortie applies only to tortoishells who are grey instead of black or if it's also for those that are tabby torties.
Tortoiseshell is for cats that are black and orange or grey and orange, and the markings are more like slashes or stripes of orange within the black rather than spots. White, black and orange spots is called calico, calico can also be grey, white and orange.
.
.

Shannonmarie, the boy cat you saw also had little bits of orange? if so that's EXTREMELY rare! all tortoiseshell are usually females!

Yea, he looked exactly like Berlin, but the orange was in different places. I don't have any pics of him though, and I don't think my sister does either. I'll try to find out who got him and see if I can get some pics.

I know what a tortishell cat is,as my ex had one and my mom has a dilute calico.Berlin is tabby though, she doesn't have full "tortie" markings.
Male calico and "torties" are indeed very rare. From the research I have done,if they do exist, they are usually infertile.

EDIT: I think you are right though!
I just looked up muted "torties" and alot of them look like my Berlin!

Normally male tortoise shell cats are infertile and if calico they normally don't live and sometimes are stillborn. It is weird.
