Box Scratching

I've always wondered why China loves to scratch boxes. Would anyone have any idea? Or is it just something fun he enjoys doing? He'll only do it to a box that's never been scratched yet. After he's scratched at a box and sat on it for awhile, then he has no use for it anymore.

Anyway here's a video of him. (Don't mind Phoenix whining and the music in the background, I was playing Super Paper Mario on the wii......fun game, lol.)

Peaches and Cream do that too, I don't know why they do it, there just must be something fascinating about it. I don't think meecee has ever done it. She's so old now she wouldn't do it

He was really going at it, wasn't he? My kitties may scratch a little bit but nothing like that. Maybe he is pretending to dig for treasure - like a chest full of catnip?

Hyrum does the scraching thing too, but he does it to the wall right beside the litterbox and to the bathtub. He scratches at the tub when the tap isn't dripping, lol. He loves to let the water drip on his paw and then lick it off, lol. The things cats do.

he could be just trying to make the box more comfy for him to lay on. Kramer does it a little. he more just tries to get into boxes and lays down but every once in a while he scratches at them
