Unhappy Cat Abscess- No $$ for vet!

I think my poor baby kitty may have an abscess at the wound site from her little injury a couple weeks ago. And I might be in trouble, because I REALLY cannot afford a vet, and I have no one to borrow from and the vets around here wont take payments. I don't know what to do. I know that abscesses are not something to be taken lightly, and can even be potentially fatal if not treated.

What do I do?

For the sake of your cat, is there anyone you can borrow money from? You could try selling some things (instruments, jewelry) or take out a loan. Or, if worse comes to worse, maybe surrender the cat to the SPCA or something if its life is at risk-- they would probably treat it then.

i agree that if you can't aford the vet, honey, i am out of work 18 months now, i need to go to the dentist desprately, but my cat comes first! each month, she gets her advantage for fleas, and the best canned food (royal canin) and the best litter (world's best cat litter). she is my baby. she comes first before i do! where was that wound? i was a vet assistant... how big is it? i can help any way in advice i will! can't with money. tell me the exact info. poor thing! it' s late april now and i afraid to be asking so much later after you posted this! just in case she is all better or still semi ok, please write to me!??? if it's small, maybe clean it with peroxide (10% the kind people use on cuts, not their hair!) please write me and let me know how she is?

Thank you everyone for all the concern. I am happy to say that she is all better now! I talked to a friend who is a vet tech and he walked me through everything... Soaked the wound and took good care of her. After a few days, she was looking AND feeling a lot better.
