Cat Nip

Recently tonight I bought my cat a bag of dried catnip. I'm not really sure how to use it, do I need to put it in something, or just in her food bowl? Also is it safe for them to actually eat it? Just want to get the facts before giving any to her.

I don't know about sprinkling it in the bowl. I have never tried that . (I just got a new kitty but I have had a total of 14 in my lifetime so far) I wouldn't sprinkle it in with food though. I would put it in a separate bowl if you want to go that route.

You can put catnip in these little plastic catnip balls or inside a little blanket type mat. You can make little sachets and fill them with catnip or rub it against a sisal or textures clothe scratching post/board/mat. There are lots of options.

I never put it in a bowl or on the food.I always put it in the little balls or I would make a pouch and close it to where it couldn't get dumped out.Mine always loved to play with the sacs.Toby would play catch with his and Callie just rolled hers around her face.

Ok, so the bowl idea is out. I bought this little cat nip teddy bear thing, that you can unzip this little pouch and put it in there. Now just one more question, how do you know when it's time to replace the cat nip?

When they stop playing with the toy I guess. I don't think I have ever even thought of that! LOL
