Question Cat Not Eating: Undiagnosed

Hi All,

So a brief backgroud... a little over 3 weeks ago Ernie my 5 year old cat stopped eating. He is always indoors and lives with my dog and I.

I took him to the vet after about 5 days of no eating and they did X rays which were fine, and bloodwork which showed that all his bloodlevels were low (RBC, WBC, Platelets etc). We then sent out for more blookwork and a smear thinking that it was leukemia... (he has been vaccinated for everything he should). The bloodwork cameback with everything normal and no real sign of cancer (yay!).

My vet asked to bring him back in 2 weeks for more bloodwork to re-check. Which I did on Friday and the reults say it is still normal. So no real reason why he isn't eating.

The vet has suggested 3 things today, but not really made a strong recommendation for any so it leaves me a bit confused:
1) Abdominal Ultrasound
2) Put under and check out his throat to see if there is an infection or mass and insert a feeding tube at the same go
3) An exploratory surgery to check out his organs.

Option 1 seems OK because it's not really hurtung him anymore. I am just concerned the others are not fixing the problem and are quite invasive. Meanwhile he is getting weaker and weaker and I am force feeding the poor guy with all kinds of fun diverse foods that he should be in heaven to have. He licks it a bit and then just gives up...

Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

I'd definitely start with an ultrasound, especially if being done by a specialist. They can be very helpful diagnostic tools.

Best of luck, it's never fun having a sick pet.
