What food do you feed? Canned? If so,remove any uneaten food.
What I do is cover the can with one of those lids and put it in the cupboard. The only thing with this,it tends to spoil much faster if it is not kept in the fridge...so you need to use it fast.I don't put canned food in the fridge, because then it is not appealing to Hatchet anymore. But I find when I have the can covered, there is no or very little odor.

As for the couch...heh...thats gonna be hard.Because if you keep kicking them off the couch or using a spray bottle...they might learn not to climb the couch when your there...but as soon as you leave the room, they will be all over the couch!

Maybe you could put a cover over your sofa while your not there. My nan covers hers with news paper, but it looks untidy, you could just put a blanket where they like to sit, I know Sammy has her favourite places to sit so my nan doesn't have to cover all the spfa as there are place where sammy seems to just refuse to sit LOL
Over here we can get sofa covers, I don't know other wise because you don't really want to upset the kettens by spraying water at them, however, it is an option.

hmmm... I thought you were supposed to put the remaining canned food in the fridge so it doesn't spoil and make kitty sick?! I feed Iaams dry cat food and make sure that there is plenty of water around and that way there is no smell of cat food around. And, Claire, sweetie, you are a CAT person now! Cats go everywhere. Get used to it! Yep, they belong lounging on the couch, the bed, the window sills, and wherever their little hearts desire! At least my spoiled little ones do. And my furniture looks great. I have plenty of "kitty beds" around and cat climbing toys and cat claw posts. They are a must. But, if you really think you will ever TOTALLY keep a cat off of anything, you will drive yourself nuts! LOL They are cats. I say this to you with a kind heart and a BIG smile on my face. LOVE you girlfriend.

Haha...glad your enjoying your kitties!

Yes,putting canned food in the fridge prolongs the life of it! However Hatchet won't eat in the fridge. So what I do is leave it out.I only buy the small cans anyway - which is sometimes one meal to him, other times I will use some in the morning and the rest at night.Leaving it for longer then a day (not in the fridge) and it is bad.And sometimes I buy the packets, which he can eat a full one of in one sitting!

Baking soda in the fridge can help some. Not a lot. For canned foods, there are supposedly odor proof lids. I never tried one. My cat eats dry food mostly and has never complained. (Science Diet if anyone wonders).

Scratching posts near furniture can help, but other than covering the sofa, nothing I know of works permanently.

You need a clean never used plastic spray bottle. When the kittens do things you don't like, spray water at them. No with spray bottle reinforces the no.

Science Diet is what the vet recommended for my cat. He is getting old now. (About 16). I had him since he was 3 months old. When he was 10 he gained weight very suddenly, like over a day he just put on weight and then he wouldn't move. Rushed him to the vet. Vet said he had urinary troubles and would die if it wasn't treated immediately. I had always watched his diet (no fish, no milk), but vet said it was probably not anything I did, but a blockage. That led to emergency surgery and Science Diet.

Pets are always your friend no matter what.

Well this is how i prepare there food.
Half pouch food half canned and about 2 tablespoons of dry kitten food.

We tried them with dry food they will not eat it.
I think its because of their age.
So we keep dry food out all day.
But they will only eat dry food if its mixed with wet food their fussy! LOL

And BOY do kittens DOO DOO'S STINKKKK!!!!
Its worse then a babies nappy LMAO.
I was actually choking when i smelt it so i made my OH clean it LOL!!!

Van, my OH is an obsessive cleaner he cleans everything LOL
I swear by babywipes for my rats cage the sensitive ones they are amazing and smell lovley!!
