We got our kitten! But, it's not the one we had origninally planned to adopt. We called the vet to ask a question pertaining to some medication our dog is on, and we mentioned that we were adopting. They told us that they had some kittens and wanted us to come in as soon as possible. They were anxious to get the three kittens in homes because they didn't want too many people knowing that they had strays. If it became common knowledge, people would be leaving kittens on their doorstep every day, and they don't have the ability to care for patients and stray cats. Unfortunatley this particular town does not have a shelter for cats, and they have to find foster homes.
We got to the vet's office and they introduced us to one of them. We immediatley knew that she was the right one for us. We have named her "Tilly," which is short for Matilda. She is extremely playful and curious, but is still a little unsure about our dog (even though our dog loves cats).
I do feel a little guilty about the kitten at the shelter, but we didn't make any specific commitnments to the shelter about that cat, and quite frankly, I feel much more comfortable knowing that our vet (who has taken wonderful care of our pets for years) has been looking after this kitten until now. I've posted a picture of her below.
