we have two black toms. and it seems that Tyler the bigger of the two likes to pee on my stuff when left on the floor. was wandering if any of you have any ideas to help break him of this habit. the other problem is Jack likes to go #2 around the litter box. they are brothers and are 4 years old. other than that they are good cats and get along great (the usual sibling rivalry.

Maybe take them to the vet to make sure they're okay? Try moving the litterbox or cleaning it more often or putting it in a more private place or getting more than onc so they don't have to share it. If that fails maybe try spraying them with a bit of water when they do it>

Are they neutered? If not,get them neutered.Neutering reduces the spraying and is safer then having an unaltered cat.

Or it could be the sign of an UTI.

They both are neutered. I need to take them in for their shots soon. Tyler has peed on a towel i used to dry the puppy a few days ago. other than that they haven't peed on anything in a few days.

Puppy? Did you recently get a new dog? They could be acting out because of that.
Maybe you can add another box. Or is your box covered? Kitties can be extremely picky. If you change the box or the litter they can decide they don't like it. I knew a cat that kept going outside the box. Then they finally watched him in the box one day. He was in the box but his tush hung over the side because he was so big. They bought a bigger uncovered box and were fine.
Also, some cats insist on a clean box. If it's a bit dirty they won't go in. It's not that they are being dirty -they just don't like to go in a dirty box.
Good luck
