Hello I have a question i was hoping you all could help me with

We rescued 3 cats in june this yr, after having to put our beloved gentle giant (dog) to sleep earlier this yr.
So I /we felt we were not ready for another dog , it was way to painful, but yet missed the love of an animal. now i have always volunteered my time bf kids yrs ago at animal shelters, so i believe in rescuing.
ok sorry going off here.
so we went and recued 3 cats they had issues but they became these great 3 wonderful loving cats, ok maybe sampson, he does not take to dh to well...must not like men to well.
but from what we know about him he was suppossably attacked by a dog. there really is no evidence of this, so how true this is i am not to sure. they are indoor cats also. now we have been thinking of getting a dog/ not to sure maybe a puppy. now my dilemma. do you think if he was attacked and since he is still young, maybe about a yr...he would remember? and if so do u think it is a wise choice? Do you think he would ever take to getting along with one? He gets along with the other cats who he did not know.
i would plan on keeping the dog/[puppy crated in the begining, to help the situation. any advice would be so appricated.
Thank you so much

He should be fine as long as the new dog is nice to him. My cats hate my parents' sheltie because he likes to chase them, but they love their old collie because he's so sweet to them. Also, some cats just don't like dogs. He may not like being around the dog, but it doesn't mean he's traumatized and you need to get rid of him or the dog. It will just kind of be like a couple of teenage siblings that aren't gonna emotionally or physically harm each other, but just don't get along well.

I have a housefull of cats and dogs and I think as long as your patient, persistant and vigilant it will all be ok. one of my rescues had been nearly killed by a dog (Leo) the huge gapping wound led to tons of infections and such...but he now is best friends will al 3 dogs, sleeps with Lady and loves to torture my Goldens...so as long as you dont show fear or nerves it should be ok, remember pets feed off of your energy, so stay positive
