Unhappy Maia isn't eating

Where do I start? I don't know if anyone remembers the last time I had to post on here about Maia. She had seizures from eating treats she used to eat all the time. I stopped them and the episodes stopped too. I took her to the vet in July because I noticed she had started to lose weight (right after catching a mouse) he did blood work and said there wasn't anything wrong and in fact her kidney levels were better than 2 years prior when she had a kidney failure episode. She hasn't been treated for that for about a year and a half. So he also asked if she had diarrhea which she didn't at the time. Lo and behold we went on vacation (she goes camping with us) and she started with the poops. I called him and took her back and he put her on metronidazole and prednisone. The poops stopped but so did her appetite. Now all she does is hide and seldome comes out. She drinks ok but eats very little. She was almost 10 pounds and is now about 5.5 so bony. She isn't on any meds now and I took her back about a week ago concerned about the continued anorexia. He said he didn't know what else to do her heart was good her lungs were clear and he recommended a specialist. I am taking her to another vet on Friday as this was the soonest I could get her in. I am trying every thing to entice her to eat but she doesn't want anything. She will be 9 in October and I'm not ready to lose her. HELP!!!

Maybe you could try the vet again. To get her eating you could make some chicken hearts and rice and she will probably eat that.

she won't eat plain chicken and rice, she at that when I was giving her the medicine to get the taste out of her mouth, but won't touch it now. I put a fresh can of tuna in a bowl and she only licked it for a few seconds and went back into hiding. I think she is trying to tell me something.

Well then I really don't know, but I hope she is okay! If the vets are stumped maybe bring her to another vet?

Have they done a fecal for parisites? Tested for diabeties? Cancer?

Try heating up some wet cat food so she can smell it more.

Maia update...took her to new vet and he hospitalized her for more testing, fluids and meds to stimulate her hunger. She is now 6.4 pounds and he said he couldn't guarantee she would make it. Please pray for her I don't want to lose my baby so young.
