Missing or just hiding......

This morning I woke up and noticed that one of our cats Millie is missing. We just adopted her on Friday and my aunt and I were told to leave her in one room for a while as shes very shy and scared due to possibly being abused. My aunt on the other hand hasn't been listening and has been letting her roam around the house. I've looked everywhere for the past 3 hours with no luck, even outside. I've made up some fliers but I was wondering if anyone here thinks she really got out or is just hiding and I just don't see her yet. I really hope she didn't get out because she has half of her teeth missing and has digestive problems so she has to be on a special food. We've never had a shy and scared cat before so if anyone with any experience with shy and scared cats please let me know if you think its possible that shes still in the house. She does have a microchip and has an id tag of the shelter on her collar. I'm continuing to look for her and will keep you guys updated. Here is a picture of her if you would like to see.
