old cat on his last leg ?

ok i have a cat that is old as mathusila , about 17-18 and has always been a indoor cat ' no claws' he has escaped in the past but just for a few hrs . anyway we have two young labs that dont bother him at all and we also had fostered a older lab that is now gone but him and the cat did not do well . the poor cat has seen some stress . he seems to love sleeping behind the bathroom door and on the bed but one night he took a dump , puked and peed on the bed , on my side , at my pillow ! . he has never ever done this and he has since peed on the bed again . he also is not eating but drinking alot . we tried canned and he will just get the juice and leave the rest , he will eat a slice of honey ham like its going out of style . he has always seem to be a lazy cat but his weight loss and not eating makes me think he is almost thru with . now i love this ol cat but if its his time then its his time , he has had a very long run for it . he does drool but he has always done that , always . and his stool looks fine , what do you guys think ? stress or bucket kicking time .cat not ea

Aw, poor little guy. Sounds like he is aging. That's a really long life for a kitty. We had a cat when I was growing up that as she got older she litterally when senile!! She'd be sound asleep on your lap, then just go bazerk tearing you to shreds! She'd also attack her self-in an all out fight tear chunks of fur and flesh off herself. We had to put her down before she killed herself. In her day, she was a beautiful long-haired tabby, but in the end she was bony, fur was patchy, and she was plain nuts!!!

sounds like it could be thyroid/w kidney failure. You should take kitty to vet and see if you can help her. Or if it is time, kitty could go to the bridge peacefully

there is nothing that cat hates more than a car ride , he will pee allllllll over the place and id hate for his last moments to be those of what ever he thinks of a car ride and a vet . he seems to be walking around a bit more and following us around . he reminds me of that cat on hocus pocus the old disney movie , he will never die
