Self Cleaning Litter Boxes

I tried to see if there was a thread about this, but can't seem to find one so I made my own.

I am curious on if anyone has a self cleaning litter box and how well they work. I would really like to get one, but I never trust the "testimonials" on sites, I'd rather hear it straight from the person.

Litter Maid ~ Litter Robot ~ Cat Genie

I know that the most common one is the litter maid. I really like the litter robot, but it's also the most expensive. Over $300....Yikes!

So who has one and how is it?

we were thinking of getting one, but we were worried that we would spend all that money and it would scare the cat lol...

M cousin has one, he has 1 cat, and it doesn't mind it at all, but his cat isn't jittery at all...I guess it would depend on the cat,

we saw one at a yard sale, but then we were concerned about germs and such...if you do get one you will have to share how it goes with me

We had a self-cleaning litter box for Spunky a couple of years ago. He liked it and seemed curious about it. He would watch as it cleaned the box after he went. But, it must have spooked him once while we were out of the house, because he never went near it again. We have used a regular litter box since then.

Last winter i went with my cousin while she cat-sat and there was a self cleaning litter box and a non self cleaner and there was always more action in the one that YOU are the cleaner!! lol i guess all kitties are different and there would have to be some training and not just suddenly replace them.

My mom considered one, but lucy spends a lot of time when he goes to the bathroom (typical man ) and we figured it would spook him since he has never had an accident in 12 years we decided agianst it. He's spooked by a lot of things. We got him a tunnel to play in and he loved it then one day it got stuck on his hair and he panicked and hasn't touched it since.

I thought about getting one but the price is just too much and as a lot of people have already said I don't know if Kramer would like it all that much, it might just spook him. He doesn't get scared easily but when it happens it takes him for ever to get over it, thats if he will get over it.

A lot of these places let you return the box if your cat doesn't use it or if you don't like it. I think it was the litter robot that you can return after 90 days if you don't want it. I really wish they were a lot cheaper though.

Maia has a litter maid, the only problem is she goes in one spot all the time so I have to "distribute" the clumps in the receptacle so it will close, other than that she and I love it!

My boyfriend said he had one when he had cats and he loved it.

I want my brother to get one for his cat but our luck, the cat won't use it.

Actually Maia and I are on our 3rd one. She likes to watch it as it "flushes" her duty. She hasn't known any different so I don't know about introducing to kitties that have been using normal pans.

I couldn't get one because my cats wont use it! They are to scared of it. It is actaully just easier for me to scoop it.
