"stray" cat - need help convincing dad to keep
This is going to be a little long, so bear with me...
Ok, last week, I think it was Friday I thought I heard my cat Yazi meowing from the basement, so I went down there to get him and called him. When, after about five minutes, he still had not come to see me I figured I was hearing things and came back upstairs. About an hour later I was hearing the same thing so I went back down and found a very skinny, very dirty white and ginger tabby male in a leather collar. I got him out of my basement and gave him some food and water. It was too late to take him to the shelter so my mom said that if he was still around the next morning we'd take him then. Well we didn't see him the next day until after the shelter closed so we decided we'd take him in after she got home from work on Monday. We see him on and off for the next couple of days, but never between the time that my mom got home from work and when the shelter closed so we still couldn't take him in.
Well this afternoon he decided he was going to be brave enough to actually come into our house. He followed me around for about two hours earlier today and he's actually made friends with our cat Yazi. He is just the sweetest thing you could imagine and absolutely loves to be petted. Of course, my mom made the mistake of naming him and now I've grown completely attatched. My mom thinks he's lost, so we put a found ad in the paper that will run from Friday to Tuesday of next week. If we don't get a response I have until probably Wednesday to convince my dad to let us keep him or we'll have to take him to the shelter. I've already decided that if we can keep him I'll be paying my parents back for all the vet bills and such. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me? I'm going to wait a few days before even bringing the subject up with my dad. Thanks in advance for any help!
