Toilet training

I have been thinking about training Amadeus (who is sitting in front of the monitor right now trying to attack with I am typing and its kind of hard to see through his so sorry for any typos and what not) to use the human toilet.

He has been showing lots of interest in the toilet, he's young and he is quiet intelligent so I don't think he would have a problem learning to use the toilet. I mainly want him to use the toilet to save on the expense of litter, not having to clean a litter box and no litter box smells. Plus it would be fun to say that my cat uses the toilet.

My only concern is the effect cat feces will have on the water. I know that your no supposed to flush used cat littler (clogging pipes) or compost it. And that cat feces can have parasites that can be harmful to humans (mainly pregnant women).

I want to get this cleared up before I start training him. Thanks

Oh and I know that lots of people train their cats to use the toilet, but how do you make sure that the cat doesn't fall in the toilet?? I know that cats have good balance but the toilet seat is slippery and I really don't want Amadeus running around the house covered in toilet water.

I am also concerned about fulfilling his need to dig.

I am still debating on this so any opinions are appreciated.

My kitties like to sleep on the lid cover of the toilet so it wouldn't work for me. Also I'd rather they use the kitty box, that way when they get old and it may be hard for them to jump high they can still use the box.

That is another issue I was concerned about, what to do when he gets old and if he falls in the toilet or has a bad experience and then fears the toilet.
