Question This is weird

Last Sunday my cat had two kittens one was deceased when we found it and the other was fine, so we took mom and kitten to our bedroom all seemed fine, we could tell that the kitten was gaining and mom seemed to be doing great. Then Tuesday morning I went to check on them and mom had two kittens in the box, there was fresh blood on the blanket and the baby had a little bit of blood on her along with a fresh umbilical cord. Seeing what we saw we knew that mom had just delivered the second (third) baby. I immediately called the vet we use for the cas and dogs and she said sometimes this does happen. I have spoken to a cat breeder since that says the same thing. Mom and both living kittens are doing great, babies are gaining about 4 1/2 to 5 grams a day. I will try to get pics tomorrow of mom and babies.

Has anyone here ever heard of this?

I've seen my share of odd things, but this is a first for me.... Sorry to hear that one kitten didn't make it, but glad to hear that the other 2 and mom are doing great

I am sorry one didn't make.
I am very happy that mom and the other babies are okay.
I have never heard or seen that ever happening.I have seen 5 kittens that were born and the umbilical cord of each all got wrapped together. They had to be cut apart and unfortunately one of them died.

Congrats!!!
I had a cat that delivered her first two kittens (out of three) a day apart, but I've never heard of two days.

Wow! Two days does seem a bit odd.

My brother's Pit Bull had 8 puppies, then about 14 hours later delivered another one and I thought THAT was weird!

I'd be almost willing to bet that they were not fathered by the same male, since dogs and cats can both have babies fathered by different fathers in the same litter.

I have heard of this - but I'd be a bit shocked if it actually happened to me (or rather, one of my animals.)
