Who wants a kitten?

Well you can't have them their all mine. MINE I TELL YOU.MINE. OK not really just in tell their fat.

My foster kittens day 3

I've had Sumaii and Kaede for 3 days now, since Saturday and they are really settling in and don't seem to mine the dogs very much even trying to play with his tail.If you didn't already know I'm fostering for the OHS which is the Ottawa Humane Society.

Sumaii and Kaede (Sum-ae and Kay-de) are 5 1/6- 6 week old female kittens who were found on the streets.Poor babies.

Sumaii is the dark torbi and is really hyper and like to try new things...including jumping off chairs and climbing the backs of chairs. And as you will see in one of the videos she likes to play on stairs.Sumaii is always the first one to come up to the cage door to come out and shes the one who gets the most upset when its time to go back in the cage. She is also the bigger of the two.

Kaede, who's name means 'Maple Leaf' in Japanese is the small and shy one.She is actually so small that you can feel most of her bones so she really needs to start pilling on the weight.Kaede is an orange tabby and is the cuter of the two as people seem to think, she is also the one who will fall asleep in your arms.Kaede loves her toys and she plays with them more than Sumaii who takes pretty much no interest in them.

Their both climbers and have forced me to tie down the top of the cage to stop them from climbing out all the time. Its interesting to walk in the house and see a kitten staring at you from the stairs when your certain they were in the cage when you left.Little poops they are.

Oh yeah you probably want to know why we keep them in a cage.Their tiny and fit into tight places, so we don't want them to get stuck somewhere we can't find them.Plus we need to know where they are all the time and they need to be close to their litter box.Even the foster person at thew shelter agreed we had a good set-up for them.

I really need to get them a kitten sized cat tree so they'll have something to climb and scratch and won't have to use Kibbles as a landing pad anymore and a big toy.

Ok I'm going to stop blabbing now and post the pictures and videos.

Their cage. Thanks to my extreme skills (lol) I have extended the dog crate to provide them with room to move.I have also crated a ledge which right now they are to small to get up too.The whole extension and ledge are made from storage cubes, the same kind used to make rabbit and guinea pig cages. The litter box is the tinyest one we can find and is filled with Yesterdays news.We need to get new bowls for them because someone always has to sit in the water when they both decide they should eat at the same time.

Kaede likes her toys. Were going to let them keep their toys and blankets when we bring them back so when we see toys on sale were going to stock up.

Sumaii is crazy. She prefers dirty towels to nice clean toys

This is to show you how small they are.The bag is a little sample Iams food bag that the shelter gave us to feed them along with caged food, which I cut myself opening for them today.

They like to play with the dogs leash.

More coming...

I want! I want!! I want!!!

I agree with keeping them safely in a cage. We had a tiny kitten once that squeezed himself between the stove and the lazy susan. He got back there but we were lucky enough to be able to lure him out with food. It could have been really bad because we were afraid to move the stove and hurt him.
When I had a litter of kittens I kept them in the dog kennel too. It so much safer for them.

They are really cute!! I like the orange/white one!

When Hatchet was tiny,I kept him and his brother (who I later had to rehome) in a room when I couldn't watch them.It is actually reccommended by alot of people to keep young kittens caged or in ONE room when you go out or cannot watch them, because they will get into everything!

Yeah their a little wobbly when they start to run or walk really fast. My mom thinks Kaede walks like there's something in her butt, because she walks with her butt and tail up.
