Mister Go Figure

LITTLE INFORMATION;;
Jimmy is a four year old 17hh bay SEMI off the track thoroughred gelding who never made it to the track cause he had a injury on his right front leg but he has been vet checked, the vet donated me a free vet check thank goodness. Vet gave him 100% healthy and sound. But the guy that was giving him away had been given this horse two years ago as a two year old. Well the guy owns QH's so he didn't know that TB's need grain and hay to live xD *rolls eyes* So he just threw him in the pasture with his other QH's. Now I don't know WHAT made the guy give him away but either someone made him give him away or the guy finnally realized that this horse needed grain and hay to live so he just gave him away or what idk. Now the second my trainer looked at him and got him settled in a stall she called me. He was mine as of September 19th, 2008. I am one happy girl lol.

This is the second time riding Jimmy. Okay first update with riding him Tuesday October 7, 2008 which was first time riding him. Okay Christine(trainer) held a lead rope while I got on so she could stop him from scooting over like race horses do. Well the ride went great we did 15 minutes walk/trot lots of BIG circles and lots of change of direction so we can teach him to steer. And on one change of direction he came up with his front legs a little towards the end of the workout. This horse does not steer lol. Christine said he is a really pretty mover and would look even more fabulous with front shoes.

Okay now leading up to today. This time I led him out to the arena with the reins. He did much better being saddled. And Christine made me get on by myself without her holding him. xD Well he moved forward and sideways a tiny bit but then he was good. Christine's feed truck came(we have Foxwood Farm Feed Store too now xD) and she was busy talking to him. Well while she was talking to him I kept walking him. She went to go up to the house to get a check and she told me start troting. Well I did big circles and lots of change of direction and he did GREAT. No bucks, rears, or anything and only gave me trouble with big circles a couple times. Then she gets done with feed store man and the guy leaves and she comes back in the ring and here I am walking him cause I am 'done with him for today' and she tells me to start troting again. EEKK I felt something bad was gonna happen cause he was already breaking to a walk and giving me trouble to get back into a trot. Well at almost the end of the workout he bucked a small buck and me and my dumb self pulled his face up which was asking him to stop and stay still. Well he got what he wanted. So christine told me not to do that again or else he will learn that the harder he bucks then he gets to stop so I am just teaching him to buck. So I can either keep kicking and hold on during the bucks or learn to pull his face up and eat dirt. xD Thats how she put it. I think I will keep kicking lol.
PICTURES;;
No saying "you shouldnt be riding him" or else I will come through the computer and yell at you xD lol just joking. He has gotten SO much more weight on him he doesn't look so terrible now and his normal hair is coming in oh he is gonna be a beautiful jaw dropping bay.

these was right as I myself decided to stop before he did something bad
ill have to get a video of him troting

I have never seen him trot but people that watch are saying he is a real pretty and nice mover.
coming home, he speeds up on this line lol but I slow him down to let him know 'HEY I am picking the speed not you'

making sure he doesnt stop by Whit(sister's hubby/camera man xD)

walking him out.. or so I thought lol before trainer came back out to the ring

he is always chewing on the bit and man oh man he grinds his teeth lol

WHATAGOODBOY

SMILE

whew

oh and for comparrison here is pictures from I think September 28th, 2008 but im not 100% sure it was either the 28th or further back but I am pretty sure it was the 28th lol.

and these are from September 24th

his coat is getting so much better and baying out more and he has gotten weight on thank goodness. Sorry for so many pictures. xD

Thank and yeah MzKitty, he was really thin. But yesterday I went out and rode him for the third time. and then today I rode him for the fourth time. He is coming home TOMORROW OH I am so excited. I am boarding him at my friends house that is only like 5 minutes away if that. And yeah Kendalle his hair is getting healthier lol and actually he IS tall, he is 17hh and 1 hand is 4 inches. and the way we count is 15.0,15.1,15.2,15.3,16.0,16.1,16.2,16.3,17.0,17.1, 17.2,17.3,18.0 lol.

October 11th, 2008 Third Ride:
well I rushed out and just went straight to the mounting block as if he was some expert at it without my stirrups down and stuff well that was a mistake. Trainer had to calm him down then I had to hurry up on him and then he scooted forward and kind of sideways yeahhhh again lol. This time trainer wasn't telling me what to do it was just a ride not a lesson or anything well he did good there was a lesson kid in there cantering and then another horse owner out there just riding who is careless when it comes to staying away from a trotting horse like Jimmy and she was cantering and whipping her horse and I was so nervous I just walked him for 15 minutes and poor guy was starting to sweat so everything started calming down in the ring so I started trotting him a little bit and that was it for that ride lol. No rears and no bucks YAY lol.

October 12th, 2008 Fourth Ride:
Well this ride was to get used to riding without trainer in the ring or in the barn cause I mean he is coming home tomorrow and I am not gonna have trainer out there with me so trainer had to leave to go to Louisiana to bring daughter to her trainer so I asked if I could ride him and she said why not he is your horse so I waited for her to leave and durning our lunch break me, peyton, and sarah were working the barn for the Sunday Barn Work lol so Peyton tacked up her pony and her pony is half way in 'Christine Boot Camp' lol as we call it and he is just getting out of it but he is still kind of in it so Peyton can't canter xD and we can't jump without trainer there and Sarah doesn't own a horse so she asked to ride Gabe(trainers horse) and she tacked him up and then I finally tacked up Jimmy well instead of walking straight to the mounting block I walked him right pasted it by putting him on one side and me on the other but still asking him to walk then I turned him around and came back to it and did the same thing then did it one more time but this time I asked him to stop with my stirrup leather being even with the middle of the mounting block and he was standing still so I patted the saddle some more and pulled down on the stirrup leathers some more and gave him lots of pets on the neck and rubs and saying Good Boy and he just stood there watching the other horses trotting around well I didn't want him spooking at me getting on him cause him not paying attention so after just sitting there petting him and then standing on the mounting block petting him I asked if they wanted to stop and watch me so to get his attention I patted the saddle some more and did the stirrup some more and he was fine and paying attention and he didn't move when I got on I WAS SO PROUD!!! I gave him a huge hug considering the last three rides I have had to have trainer out there holding him with me jumping on him really quick. Then he surprised me again and I checked my stirrup lengths and they were the right length for me and he didn't spook. Did walk trot and circles and change of dirrection and he was a perfect angel! He did stop at the gate once or twice and it was hard getting him to go but that was it. Then I was going to get off him at the mounting block to get more practise and he started getting nervous again and backing up with the least bit of preasure on the bit and started making a circle with nothing but his head lol yeahhh it was bad lol but he didn't rear or anything my focus was getting him to walk so he wouldn't buck or rear lol. He wore bell boots and boots today and he does good with them on so I know he will be fine when his come in thank goodness. xD I love him so much lol and he did GREAT with his bath normally he does so bad with water I end up having to wet sponge him down and thats it. Leaving sweat marks which make me sad. But I was even able to shampoo him with his medicated shampoo today. I was really proud of him.

pictures are from October 12th sorry no riding pictures and no saddled pictures which sucks lol I should have taken pictures sorry.

these side pics make him look worse then what he is cause I am at an angle trying to hold him and take a whole body picture

he always props up one leg when eating like this and makes me think he is about to lay down lol

I LOVE this picture but my cell is in it xD lol oh and these pictures are after the ride while I am waiting to rinse the shampoo off lol you have to let it sit for 10 minutes

cute face, trying to get the above pic again but without the cell this time xD

the end.
donkey ears:

enjoy.

17hh is TALL for a horse. My mare is 15.2 and that is plenty tall for me. LOL. Your baby is looking better every day. You keep up the good work with him and he will be conditioned and toned in no time. You can see the improvement already.

here is more improovment lol HES HOME HES HOME
Yep my baby is home!! Well in his new home lol not my house but hey its only like 5 minutes away IF that if the speed limit wasn't 20 all the way there xD lol.
Eating his supper, yep he gets 'supper' at 2 at the barn so I went on and fed him sence it was 3 and he hadn't been fed yet lol but he will get his feed shcedule changed to like getting fed at 8-9 in the morning then getting 'supper' at 4-5 cause he is getting used to getting fed at 7 then at 2 then getting turned out but now he is on turn out 24/7 so yeah but PICTURES
His neck looks funny when he is bent over eating grass or feed(I have to get something to hand it up on) prolly cause his neck isnt very thick right now but it is getting there!

love it

he is a nervous eater and thinks that other horses are gonna come and steal his food and kick him away so he is constantly taking a bite then lifting his head and walking in a circle and away then eat another bite and doing the same thing over and over. Once he realizes he is in a pasture by himself he will stop that

trying to show you his thicker neck lol

see its getting thicker

the end.
Im happy now lol I am the only one that will be feeding him, haying him, grooming him, riding him(IN NEED OF A CHEAP BUT GOOD SADDLE) etc etc im so happy. He likes his new home and I saw him trot/canter for the first time ever and he is just a BEAUTIFUL and FABULOUS mover!!

Is he still chewy with the bit? If so you may need a wider one or a different kind. That's what I had to do with my son's horse because she was always chewing on the bit. Also is it copper? If not his mouth may be getting dry. He's a beauty and your doing wonderful putting weight on him slowly. Enjoy as I'm sure he is enjoying you!

we lanced his leg Friday cause it got a big puss pocket(just cut a small cut in it, not deep or anything) and I was wrapping it with vet wrap and then a polo and saturday he went lame at the trot(without rider) and a man came to look at landowners new horse and he looked at Jimmy and said its a old bowed tendon and will never heal because old owners just threw him in a pasture without treating the bowed tendon. We are now getting xrays on him.

He's a handsome boy! I just sold my off the track TB mare. She was 17 now and I got her when she was 10 and boiy did she act like a 3yr old LOL. He should jump though! dang I think her max was about 4'6" or something like that lol. Do you have any possible show plans for him if he heals up? I will plead guilty to only reading a few of the posts and oogaling at pictures. I really need to get more of D and Zilly.
