Lightbulb Chickens

Do chickens make good pets? I have been really wanting to hatch my own and raise them AS PETS.

I have 8 chickens and I love them all, are they cuddley and all that no, but mine do enjoy being petted and they show some affection, my rooster is the sweetest, he does like to cuddle lol, get in your lap and nuzzle against you....you just have to make sure you have a large enough area for them, a secure pen and all the material for nesting they need, mine go through food at an easy to keep up rate...it costs maybe 8 dollars a month for very high quality food...just make sure you do alot of research on them first.

Grandpa has many chicken, when I was a child we grandpa has this so sweet and brave young rooster. He loves to go near humans so I'm always carrying him. One thing that entertain him is to fight the dogs and puppies specially when they are sleeping. He will just him them or stand over them and then run for his life when the dog gets angry.

I've also been curious about having chickens. I'd need a way to keep my dogs away from them.

Do you eat the eggs they lay? I've thought about that for my food storage, not to keep as meat but just for eggs.
