Hmm anyone know what he is?

Last night, we keep hearing strange sounds but couldn't figure out what it was. I walked in the garage later and turned around and saw this huge, green bug! I didn't know what it was, it sure scared me!! It's almost like a big grasshopper looking thing that could blend in with leaves. I first thought this was a praying mantis because of all the noise he made, but then said no, because they are skinny little guys. He dissapeared the next time I went out there...
I took these 2 pics but he was way up near the ceiling and it didn't zoom so well.. but here they are.

*Edit- I guess I should've looked at Steph's other post first..

I guess this looks like a Katydid, too?

Hmmm......I would have guessed it as a pure old grasshopper, rubbing his back legs together. BUT, I'm definately not a bug person!

Guess I'm no help, huh?

katydid

squeeze his wings together (gently) and he'll chirp. they're friendly little critters.

Okay, so I've got a mischevious husband and a few buns...
