some Flying thing

looks a little bit like a cat turd with wings... ( can I say Turd in here ???)

I am only living in the US since 97 and have never seen anything like this.

What is it ?

It definitely looks like a cat turd with wings to me It might be some kind of locust or ciccada but it sure is creepy looking.

It's a Cicada.

They live almost all their lives under ground (up to 17 years for some species) in the form of a grub. Then they come up on the the surface of the ground, Shed their old skin for one with wings, and look for a mate.

We usually see them in mid July to August around here.

Just do an internet search for cicada and your state, and you find plenty of info on them.

Yeah, that particular one is a dogday cicada "annual cicada" (Tibicen pruinosa). Looks like a female.

Actually, if you saute them with some garlic and onions, they can be quite tasty!
