Unhappy Degu urine smell, Bi odor?

My degus have always had bad smelling urine ever since I got them. I clean there cage at least once a week and the smell usually comes back within the next couple of days. A lady at the pet store told me about something called Bi Odor. I was wondering if anyone has used it and if it's safe for degus.

Never used it and probably wouldn't use it – too paranoid about how products affect their respiratory systems. My degus' urine smells if the cage needs cleaning (major clean once a week, spot cleaning every day).

What type of cage litter/bedding are you using?

Do you have males? I, too, am wondering what you're using for litter. The cage shouldn't smell that bad if it's clean.

Degu wee doesn't usually sell unless its concentrated i.e been left for too long. I have used shavings for over 15 years with no problems whatsoever and i spot clean mine once a week with a major cleanout once a month on the big cages.

Use baking soda, hydrogen/detergent mixture into the urine spot and leave it to dry on its own. Once it is dry, you can vacuum up the remains.
