Degus!

Okies...I might be getting a pair of degus next week or so.My friend emailed me and she knows of someone who has to get rid of two degus and she thought of me,because she knew I would take greyt care of them.

I was thinking of getting degus awhile back and even asked for all the basics on them and whatnot, but I was too lazy to go back and look for that thread,so I just made a new one.Because I want to make sure these degus get everything they need!

Please can anyone give me some GOOD websites and give me some tips for a begginner degu owner!? Thanks alot...I will keep you guys updated!

give them treets for the first few weeks....
this means hand fed ones
they will become your friend alot faster this way lol
I give mine gini pig food and alfalfa and grape nuts for thier treats..
They cant eat things high in sugar so watch out for that
that the easiest things off the bat research the rest
you'll be fine
don't worry

Congrats, I hope you have fun with your new little critters when you get them. Don't mind me of course but I don't even know what a Degu is. I know it's some type of rodent right? lol

Thanks! I was reading through some of the sites and degus seem like fun little guys! I even got to hear some sound clips of how they sound! So cute!

I never got a reply yet from the girl who has them, but hopefully soon!

Well I just heard back...turns out there is only ONE degu now.Apparently the remaining one killed the other one...sounds weird to me.Can or will degus kill eachother?

Should I take the remaining degu?

Are they male or female? Degus rarely will kill each other and its more then likely males that will fight usually over territory and females. Lone degus are a lot of hard work, i will reply more in your other thread

they will kill eachother
i put my new ones with my old ones and id i hadn't seperated them one would be dead right now
one of them had a compounf fracture in his foot
the bone was sticking out of his foot
I gave him to a vet that could take care of him cause i cant afford surgery to fix his foot. He would have died of infection eventually if not treated
