Is there any way I can keep my degus in the garden? (Including the possibility of a shed)

Degus really need the protection of a cage, and that security. It also depends on where you live, they cannot stay in the shed if its cold. It could work , but probably would not.

I don't know that I would recommend that...not only are degus great escape artists but there are a lot of predators you'd have to worry about. They also don't handle heat well, either, so hot days could result in heat stroke...even if it doesn't seem very "hot" to you. I'd also worry that they wouldn't get enough human interaction if kept outside.
