Globe Trotting Squirrels

Does anyone have any experience on taking degus from Canada to the US? I'm assuming that they will have to spend a lot of time in quarentine on both sides just to be safe.

No, I haven't, but degus are considered very small, pocket-pet animals, aren't they? It would be quite strange to put a few small squirrels in quarantine for any large amount of time... But that's just my opinion on the subject--law might say otherwise.

Yeah, you would think that some species would be able to cross the boarder between countries with minimal paperwork involved. I can't see there being a high rate of degu-related illnesses being reported by people in the States that have imported degus from Canada. The US goverment does have the right, however, to protect its boarders.
