a question about size

My little girls will be 1 year old on April 16th. Are they done growing now? I have read a bunch of things about Degus and from what I could gather out of all of the books and websites, they should be anywhere from 8 inches to 12 inches when they are full grown. Does anybody know a more narrow range? Mine are each about 8 1/2 inches long? Are they runts or average size?

I think it all depends on breeding and lifestyle conditions i think as every degu varies in size. I should say yours are about average sized so don't worry

I'm trying not to disturb Sage and her new litter, so I don't want to go into the spare bedroom with a ruler and chase down Basil to measure him, but if I had to guess, I'd put him at about 9 inches, so yours sound average. I honestly can't tell you how big Sage is. I got so used to seeing her pregnant, that I can't remember what she looks like normal sized. She's obviously no longer pregnant, but she spends most of her time in the nest box with her babies, so I haven't seen her much lately.
